We knew the neck injury to Peyton Manning was serious enough to keep him out the whole season. It will be hard to take seriously the sports media world that covers Peyton if 80’s heartthrob and Tommy Boy star Rob Lowe – whose favorite quarterback is Manning – just broke news on Peyton’s retirement.
Not long after tweeting Jim Irsay to look at long shots Bill Cowher (who might want to coach Luck) and Jon Gruden (who isn’t interested in coaching right now) for head coach, Lowe wrote:
“Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to
#NFL. Wow. #Colts”
#Colts fans, let’s hope my info is wrong. Don’t like being wrong, but this time… I’m hoping #NFL #Manning”
Updates: Archie Manning laughed at the report and his agent Tom Condon said Peyton did not contact him about retiring. Lowe was the first person Jim Irsay followed on Twitter and he has also been repped by the same agency as Peyton, CAA.
Hit “Like” if you hope this is false, even though it would be near the top of the craziest moments in the new social media.
