Brian Schottenheimer has reportedly signed on to be offensive coordinator of the Rams. I expect reports in the coming days of Gregg Williams being hired as defensive coordinator.
What this would create is a staff of mediocrity, in terms of results.
I think Schottenheimer is a decent coach and Williams a good one, but Schottenheimer’s offenses were ranked 17th, 13th and 13th in points and the Jets scored more than 24 just once in six postseason games. Williams’ Saints defenses were ranked 20th, 7th and 13th in points allowed. Neither coach, obviously, picks the players in the draft.
For better or for worse, the Rams would still be a step ahead of the Bears, Bucs, Raiders, and Dolphins (maybe they should start scheduling that later) by bringing in both coaches as the lead-up to the East-West Shrine Game and other all-star games takes place.
Hit “Like” if you hope Brian will be more successful with this fresh start.
