Chargers center Nick Hardwick is not just facing free agency for the first time but contemplating walking away from the NFL at age 30 according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
“I love football,” Hardwick said Wednesday. “It’s a hard decision. There is a lot that goes into it. It’s heavy. So I’m not willing to think about it right now.”
Hardwick was largely evasive when presented with what has been quietly broached around Chargers Park for months. But he acknowledged that once the Chargers finish the season Sunday at Oakland and he spends some time with his wife and infant son, he will be deciphering an uncertain future.
“We’ll weigh the options, see where we’re at, see how I feel when we’re done,” Hardwick said Wednesday. “We’ve got time to make decisions and figure it out.”
