Jets head coach Rex Ryan announced at his press conference that the Jets are going to fill their open roster spot with OLB Ricky Sapp. Sapp was selected by the Eagles in the 5th round of the 2010 Draft out of Clemson. Rex explained that Sapp had looked real good in practice, prompting the decision.
The Jets may need more big plays from the defense, until the offense can start scoring more consistently.
Gang Green got home with their pass rush a little the last two weeks, collecting 5 sacks combined on Michael Vick and Eli Manning. That may seem like a pretty good total – averaging out to 40 sacks in a season -, but 40 is what they had last season. They tied for 8th in sacks, not as high as an elite defense would like to place. The Jets are 17th with 34 sacks this season.
