Dolphins linebacker Jason Taylor will retire following Sunday’s regular season finale against the Jets.
In a reserve role during his third stint with the Dolphins, the 37-year-old Taylor ranks second on the team with seven quarterback sacks and 13 quarterback hits. Taylor is unsigned for 2012.
A third-round pick (73rd overall) out of Akron in 1997, Taylor ranks sixth with 139.5 quarterback sacks during a 15-year career that has included six trips to the Pro Bowl, five All-Pro selections, an NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award (2006) and the inclusion on the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 2000s.
