Browns Coach Shurmur Finally Takes Blame for Mistakes in Loss

Pat Shurmur finally is stepping up and taking blame, saying the mistakes from the Christmas Eve loss to the Ravens is on him.

Two unreal blunders on Saturday in Baltimore were costly in a 20-14 loss to the Ravens. Browns backup quarterback Seneca Wallace botched a scoring opportunity at the end of the first half and rookie defensive tackle Phil Taylor jumped offside on fourth down in the final two minutes to seal Baltimore’s win.

Shurmur said there are no excuses and the Browns “have to play smarter.”

Shurmur also had no update on quarterback Colt McCoy, who hasn’t been cleared to practice since suffering a concussion December 8th against Pittsburgh. Shurmur said McCoy took part in team meetings Monday and the team won’t know until Wednesday if he’ll be able to practice.
