Browns safety T.J. Ward will be placed on injured reserve with a foot injury, a move that was expected since he hasn’t played in about two months.
A 2010 second-round pick out of Oregon, Ward had a solid rookie season, posting 123 tackles and two interceptions as a 16-game starter in the Browns’ defensive backfield. This season, Ward had 39 tackles and a quarterback sack before suffering the injury, which has kept him out of the last six games.
Free agent addition Usama Young has replaced Ward in the starting lineup and has 62 tackles and an interception on the season, including 36 tackles over the last six weeks.
The Browns have not yet disclosed who will replace Ward on the 53-man roster.
