2012 NFL Mock Draft, Top 12 With Updated (12/17) Draft Order

I get frustrated when a guy who’s opinion I value waits until after the Combine to do his first complete first round mock. I will have mine up either before or at the conclusion of the regular season. Here is my top 12 for now.

  1. Colts (0-13)  Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford.
  2. Vikings (2-11) Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor. Whether they trade the pick, trade Griffin or trade Ponder, this is – by far – the best player available.
  3. Rams (2-10) Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State. After 2.5 years of mixing and matching, finding great #3 and #4’s but never a #1, the Rams will enter 2012 with two #1’s: Brandon Lloyd – if they can sign him – and Justin Blackmon.
  4. Jaguars (4-10) Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame. Alshon Jeffrey, Marvin McNutt and Kendall Wright could also be in play if they are picking later.
  5. Panthers (4-9) Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU.
  6. Redskins (4-9) Matt Barkley, QB, USC.
  7. Browns (4-9) Alshon Jeffrey, WR, South Carolina.
  8. Dolphins (4-9) Nick Foles, QB, Arizona.
  9. Buccaneers (4-9) Devon Still, DT, Penn State. The defensive line would go from weakness to strength with Gerald McCoy coming back from injury and maybe also Albert Haynesworth on third downs.
  10. Chiefs (5-8) Matt Kalil, USC, T. North Carolina OLB Zach Brown is someone to watch here.
  11. Eagles (5-8) Riley Reiff, T, Iowa. This is one of the biggest no-brainers.
  12. Bills (5-8) Jonathan Martin, T, Stanford. The Bills need playmakers, yet this is best player available.

Hit “Like” if you are excited for the 2012 Draft.

  1. Jake Swagger says:

why would the Vikes get Griffen at number 2?? lol that is the worst mock pick of all time, they already got Ponder and I watched all his games and he has more potientiol then Griffen

  2. BMoney says:

Don’t ever do a mock draft again. You clearly dont know much about football or teams involved. Nick Foles top 10? Come on…

    • Chris Bach says:

RGIII would be best player available, and they would get a lot for him in a trade.

As for Nick Foles, not a lot of people thought Christian Ponder would go in the first round. I did: http://www.nflgridirongab.com/?p=18870

While I listen to all criticism, 15 people did “Like” my mock. I’ll keep writing them, but thank you for your input.

  3. viks fan1 says:

This years draft is ill grant you far from predictable but the picks here are ridicules.
    1. luck will go first. I feel like washington will make the call to jump up and take him, giving up a 1st,2nd this year and a 1st,2nd next. At a #6 pick indy could still grab a QB to that is very talented later in the draft. Think Aaron Rodgers and B-farvre. Rodgers is no Peyton but look at the production based on maturity and the talent around him.
    2. RG111. is a great college QB. the resin everyone including you have over hyped him is because of the ‘I CAM JUST RUN IT IN’ saga going on in carolina this year. the facts that elude you are that cam is bigger stronger, more durable and a better all round talent. RG111 is more of a Vick type player. They will amaze you with ability but lacks the consistency work-ethic and coolness under pressure of a Peyton, Rodgers Brees or Brady. The difference is that the run first player has never had to analyze the defense they take off as soon as they get flustered. A prototypical QB may not win today but will improve year to year and began to out think based on experience. Down the stretch of the season last year, vick imploding and the eagles demise is evidence enough. That is why teams will sit on him until you get a new coach or one that is on the ropes needing to win tomorrow and forces the GM to win tomorrow and maybe make the playoffs rather than eventually win the Superbowl and remain competitive.
The bottom half of this draft is weaker than every one is letting on. the top 15 are good-great but severely drops off. if viks get the #3 pick and kelil is gone. They will trade back to pick up serviceable players that will fill desperate voids. Kelil Is one of the best Left tackles to come out in the past 5 years. he is quick, fast, has burst and strength. his feet and balance are second to none,FRANCHISE.

  4. Brady says:

Why would the Vikings waste their 2011 1st round pick on Griffin III? Don’t get me wrong, Griffin III will succeed in the NFL, but this guy does not have anything like Ponder does. Griffin has half the success he has on the field because of rushing, he’s a great scrambler, but we all see what that leads to — injuries. Griffin is a collegiate beast, and I can see him going to Washington in the first round. The Vikings need to:

    A.) Draft Matt Kalil
B.) Draft Justin Blackmon as a vertical receiver, it’d help get the defenses mind off of AP.
C.) Draft Morris Claiborne, he’d improve our secondary drastically.
D.) Trade our draft picks to a hungry team (New England, Cincinnati)

  5. Jerimie says:

Nick Foles top 10, Vikings picking RG3????????????? NEVER NEVER EVER DO A MOCK DRAFT EVER AGAIN!
