Rams Gab Previews Sunday’s Rams-Niners NFC West Battle

49er’s Frank Gore, the 5th ranked running back in the NFL, was asked how he felt about his upcoming game against the St Louis Rams (worst defense in the NFL).

Instead of a verbal response, Frank fell on the ground and laughed like a little girl. He tried to get up a couple times, but just couldn’t do it. Holding his side he finally made it to his feet and said, “the Rams are a tough opponent and we will prepare for them as we would for any other team”. Off microphone Frank and his entourage could be heard crackin up for about 10 minutes. Ok, so Frank didn’t really do that, but you know he was thinking it.

Beginning of the season he might have thought differently, but the 2-9 Rams give the 9-2 SF 49ers no reason to keep a straight face regarding this weekend’s matchup.

Do the Rams have any chance of upsetting the 49ers? Yes, there is always a chance. Of all the teams in the NFL the 49ers could be the least liked team by the Rams (not to mention Rams fans). Here are a few things that would need to happen for the Rams to come away with a win:

1 Frank Gore would have to stink and Steven Jackson would need another New Orleans Saints type of game.

2 The entire St Louis Rams team would need to muster enough raw hatred to play at a level beyond their current sorry team record.

3 Assuming #1 was true, the 49ers would have to turn to the air to try and move the ball. Then 23rd ranked Alex Smith would have an opportunity to throw multiple interceptions and give the Rams a chance to stay alive.

4 The Rams run defense was totally destroyed by Beanie Wells last week so I’m hoping they received the butt chewing of their young millionaire lives during this week’s practices. They need to break out the brass knuckles and shut down Mr. Gore. (This also reinforces #3.)

5 The vast array of subpar Rams receivers must step up and actually catch a few balls. Plus, our one good receiver (B Lloyd) would have to have a game for the ages.

6 Finally, Sam Bradford would need to eat a big bowl of Wheaties before the game and man up. Yes, he has a weak and troubled O-line, but the great ones always seem to find a way to get things done.

So yes, it could happen. Come on Rams go for it. We believe in you. (ha ha ha ha)
