Earlier Thursday, I shed light on the absurdity of the Texans ruling out Favre on the basis of his celebrity, when the team has the first chance in franchise history to win playoff games. Favre has certainly played in a lot of playoff games, more than double what former Jet teammate Kellen Clemens and Jake Delhomme have combined.
Now, Donovan McNabb – with a 1-5 record this season and a 9-7 record in the playoffs – has been released by the Minnesota Vikings, says NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora.
He showed a lack of mobility and accuracy, but showed he can still play in the NFL. The most interesting thing is that D-Mac requested his release. Will the Texans or Bears have interest? Many bring up the strong ties Kubiak and Shanahan have as a deal-breaker for him going to the Texans. What if the Eagles win ugly with Vince Young and Vick isn’t going to be ready for three weeks? Are the Chiefs still thinking about the postseason, with games left against the Raiders and Broncos? The Panthers may be thinking about getting a permanent back-up for Cam Newton and Christian Ponder has said nothing but glowing things about McNabb as a mentor. The Browns and Ravens may be looking for that as well. Could he be back to backing up Kolb for the Cardinals? McNabb was born in Chicago.
It’s definitely possible that the Giants put in a claim to block the Bears.
Hit “Like” if you think McNabb could still win a playoff game.
