After Matt Leinart’s likely season ending shoulder injury Sunday, there was natural speculation the Texans might call Brett Favre and coax him to come out of retirement to lead their playoff caliber team.
Not gonna happen.
Texans GM Rick Smith says he doesn’t see the team calling Favre according to Peter King of SI.com. Favre texted King and said he’s not up to it and he hasn’t thrown a ball since November 4th.
For now, the Texans playoff future lies in the hands of T.J. Yates, with rumors the team will sign former Chiefs QB Brodie Croyle to be the backup.
