Patriots Re-Sign WR Tiquan Underwood; Place LB Jeff Tarpinian On IR

The Patriots announced the re-signing of wide receiver Tiquan Underwood.

Rookie linebacker Jeff Tarpinian has been placed on injured reserve with a head injury to make room for Underwood.

A 2009 seventh-round pick out of Rutgers by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Underwood has eight receptions for 111 yards, averaged 23 yards on 26 kick returns and added three tackles on special teams in 13 career games. Released by the Jaguars in August, Underwood spent the final week of the preseason with the Patriots, who re-signed for a week earlier this month.

Tarinian signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa in 2011. In seven games, including one start, Tarpinian had seven tackles, including three on special teams.

The Patriots also re-signed safety Ross Ventrone to the practice squad, releasing Josh Victorian.
