Hasselbeck Injury Doesn’t Appear Serious

It looks as though Matt Hasselbeck escaped with no serious damage after taking a shot in a loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Hasselbeck had an MRI on the elbow Monday and it came back showing no structural damage. However, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean is reporting that Hasselbeck’s status hinges on his ability to squeeze the football.

This will obviously stir the argument that the Titans may look to start rookie quarterback Jake Locker. After a slow offensive game, Locker led two late scoring drives and nearly brought the Titans all the way back. He was precise on his throws delivering them on time and in the right location.

With where the Titans are in the season, if Hasselbeck is ready to go, I think you have to play him. He has been excellent for the majority of the year, barring a few setbacks. And at 5-5, the Titans are very much alive in the playoff race. The Texans just lost Matt Shaub and may not be the same team without him at 7-3. And at 6-4, the Cincinnati Bengals are not looking like the most solid No. 6 seed.
