Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler might need surgery on a broken thumb on his throwing hand, injured before his last two attempts Sunday.
According to ESPN Chicago’s Mike Wright, the surgery will happen. According to the Chicago Tribune, Cutler will miss 6-8 weeks.
Caleb Hanie, his back-up, has 0 career starts but one thrilling near-comeback against the Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
The 7-3 Bears play in Oakland Sunday against the 6-4 Raiders.
