Right Tackle James Carpenter Done with Torn ACL

Seahawks first-round right tackle James Carpenter suffered a torn ACL during Wednesday’s practice, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Losing Carpenter is a big blow to the Seahawks offensive line, which also lost starting right guard John Moffitt to a season-ending knee injury in last Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Seahawks used their first two picks in the 2011 NFL Draft on Carpenter and Moffitt, immediately penciling them in as the starting right side of their offensive line this season. Carpenter started the season-opener as a fill-in at left guard, but was moved back to right tackle and was the only Seahawks offensive player to play in 100 percent of their offensive snaps this season.

Paul McQuistan will start at right guard for Moffitt, while Breno Giacomini will likely replace Carpenter at right tackle. Giacomini started at right tackle in Week 1.
