Hester Named NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week

Bears wide receiver/punt returner Devin Hester has been named the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week, the team announced on Wednesday.

For Hester, this is the third Special Teams Player of the Week award of the season and 12th of his illustrious career.

In Sunday’s 37-13 win over the Detroit Lions, Hester returned three punts for 122 yards, including an 82-yard return for a touchdown. Hester is averaging 20.1 yards on his 15 punt returns, two of which he’s returned for touchdowns, setting an NFL record for punt returns for a touchdown with 12. Hester is also averaging 24 yards on 18 kick returns, returning one kick 98 yards for a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6.
