Moffitt lands on Injured Reserve

During his Monday afternoon press conference, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll announced that rookie right guard John Moffitt will miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury during Sunday’s 22-17 win over the Ravens.

Moffitt avoided an ACL tear, but has significant damage to his MCL and PCL on the Seahawks’ seventh offensive play of the game.

A third-round pick out of Wisconsin, Moffitt has stared all nine games for the Seahawks this season. Up until his injury, Moffitt had been in for all but 11 snaps on the season as the Seahawks attempt to get him and 2011 first-round right tackle James Carpenter as much work as possible.

Second-year offensive lineman Lemuel Jean-Pierre replaced Moffitt on Sunday, but veteran Paul McQuistan could be a possible replacement at the position, as well.
