Andre Johnson will not play in Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers, head coach Gary Kubiak said on Friday.
This will be the sixth game Johnson has missed after undergoing surgery on a right hamstring he injured in a Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. With the Texans off next week, there appears to be little reason to rush Johnson back.
Houston lost the first two games without Johnson, but are riding a three-game winning streak that has been powered by a running game that has averaged 213 yards per game over that stretch. At 6-3, the Texans have a game and a half lead over the Tennessee Titans in the AFC South. Three of the Texans’ final six games are within the division, including a regular season finale against the Titans at Reliant Stadium.
