Per Brendan Wiese of KFNS Radio in St. Louis: (I’ve compiled multiple tweets into one paragraph)
I have been given clearance to report. PLEASE credit KFNS radio: Rams Center Jason Brown will not start Sunday in Cleveland….Brown would’ve been starting for the 85th consecutive game for the Rams on Sunday….This is a HEALTHY sit. Tony Wragge will start in his place from what Brown himself told me….Brown told me..the team told him…”We’re trying to make changes.”…As for why the move happened: “As for as giving me an acceptable or good reason, they actually couldn’t give me a good reason…..
First and foremost, this makes no sense. Jason Brown hasn’t by any stretch of the imagination played well this season, but he hasn’t been a disaster either. Rodger Saffold and Jason Smith have been the disasters. That being said, the Rams are going to bench him for performance reasons and say so, then fine. It is possible they see something on tape that we haven’t seen and we haven’t heard the Rams side of the story either as Wiese got all his information from Brown himself.
To say “We’re trying to make changes” smacks of throwing crap against the wall and hoping something sticks. That is no way to run a football team. Additionally, it is not like Wragge is some up and coming youngster. Wragge is 4 years older than Brown.
I’m looking for any explanation or reasoning in this move, but I can’t find it. I am eagerly awaiting some more information from the Rams on this move, but no one has been able to get anything from them. This makes absolutely no sense.
