Royal Named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Broncos wide receiver Eddie Royal has been named the AFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week, team president John Elway announced on Twitter.

Tied with the Oakland Raiders in the fourth quarter on Sunday, Royal had an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown to give the Broncos a seven-point in their 38-24 win. The return was Royal’s first punt return of the season, as he’s missed a few games with injuries and has yielded those duties to Quan Cosby.

Royal earned the same honor after returning a punt and kickoff for a touchdown in Week 6 of the 2009 season, an effort that also earned him AFC Special Teams Player of the Month honors for October of 2009.
