Jaguars offensive lineman Eben Britton has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts with a back injury, head coach Jack Del Rio said on Wednesday.
“At some point, I’ll be able to shed some light on it,” Del Rio said of Britton’s health according to John Oehser of Jaguars.com.
A 2009 second-round pick out of Arizona, Britton started 22 games over his first season and a half before landing on injured reserve with a shoulder injury last October. Britton underwent back surgery in August that kept him out for the entire preseason and the season-opener against the Tennessee Titans.
Drafted to be the right tackle bookend to 2009 first-round left tackle Eugene Monroe, two of Britton’s three starts this season have been at left guard. Britton aggravated his back injury in Week 6 and has not practiced or played since. Rookie Will Rackley has played left guard while journeyman Guy Whimper plays right tackle.
