Rhythmic Skelton, Peterson punt return lifts Cards over Rams in OT; 19-13

What happened: While evaluation is all in the eye of the beholder, for me it seemed that John Skelton is a better quarterback than Kevin Kolb at this point. Skelton has had a few seasons more to digest the playbook, but overall there was a comfort level I have yet to see from Kolb.

Skelton managed the game well but more importantly was more accurate with his throws. I have seen Kolb skip passes and flat out overthrow his receivers. Skelton seemed to manage the game better, finishing with 222 yards and a score. It will be interesting to see if Whisenhunt rolls with the hot hand or reverts back to the contract man Kolb.

Beanie Wells had his first poor showing of the season with 10 carries for 20 yards. The biggest star this season in terms of what he means for this team down the stretch is Early Doucet. He finished with 78 yards in the game but overall has been “Mr. Consistency” for this team. The starts are Wells and Fitz of course, but if Doucet can continue this production the Cards will have as effective an offense as any – Adrian Mojia

Next: 2-6 Arizona Cardinals at Philadelphia Eagles, Sunday November 13, 11 AM MT.
