Kicker Stephen Gostkowski is typically one of the more reliable members of the team, but recently he’s fallen on hard times. He missed a 42-yarder during the third quarter of last week’s loss to the Steelers and missed again in Sunday’s loss to the Giants during the second quarter from 27 yards out with a chance to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
“I could go out there and probably make 100 of those in a row, but you have to be able to do it when it’s your time,” Gostkowski said. “I have to do a better job getting ready to make every kick. That’s unacceptable. It’s an awful feeling to come up on the short end of the stick as a team and personally to give us a chance to carry some momentum into the half, and on a kick I could make left-footed that I just completely blew. It’s just not a good feeling.” Gostkowski said he that he won’t soon shake this one off and that he’ll spend a lot of time trying to figure out what went wrong.
