Giants Patriots Halftime Thoughts

This game is going by fast, because mostly nothing is happening. Nothing sustained. Nothing exciting. It’s 0-0.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well the defense is playing. Welker hasn’t done too much. When the Patriots start to move, the D tightens up. Kiwanuka has been huge today. So has Deon Grant. The pass rush has been good,  Run defense has been up and down. Let up a huge play the first play, but Canty and Joseph has gotten a nice push. Brady is starting to get flustered a bit, and as the pass rush continues to heat up, he’ll be even more flustered. Don’t like, however, how the Patriots moved the ball in the last few minutes, but the Giants D didn’t break.

The offense is just not doing much. Jacobs has run with some purpose but it hasn’t really translated to yardage. Eli has been under duress, and guys just haven’t been open. Cruz has had a few catches. But just not much going on. Lack of third down conversions are really hurting

Steve Weatherford may be the MVP so far, just a huge game punting. Really pinned the Patriots deep.

I think they just have to get going. Just start to move the ball. Maybe get the run going, if you can. Or do some screens, something to get a guy in space and so some damage. Just a frustrating game to watch because they can’t take advantage of opportunities. We’ll see if they can in the 2nd half.
