Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson has been named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week, the team announced on Tuesday.
Johnson had 13 tackles, one quarterback sack and an interception in last night’s 23-20 overtime win over the San Diego Chargers. On the season, the 2005 first-round pick out of Texas has 57 tackles, one quarterback sack and an interception.
This is the fourth time Johnson has been named player of the week, and he is the second Chiefs player to earn AFC Defensive Player of the Week honor in as many weeks. Cornerback Brandon Flowers won the same honor after intercepting a pair of passes in the Chiefs’ 28-0 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 7.
