Week 8: Arizona Cardinals at Baltimore Ravens
Sunday October 30, 2011 1:05PM
Line: Ravens -12 O/U 43
OK we all want to forget what happened in Jacksonsville last Monday night. You know the best way to exercise those demons? By beating the every living piss out of the Arizona Cardinals. Strike first, strike hard, no mercy. With that in mind, let’s take a look at this week’s keys to the game.
RavensGab.com Keys to the Game
Give Ray Rice the Ball
Ray Rice fumbled early against Jacksonville, struggled to get his footing, and ultimately was held to less than ten carries. There is no excuse for that to ever happen. Ever. Rice is one of the best players in the game today. You don’t shelve him. The Ravens throttle the Cardinals by running the ball down their throats. Simple as that.
Get Open For God’s Sake
Watch the game film from Monday night and you’ll see that Flacco’s erratic play is only half of the equation. The other half is that his receivers could simply not get separation and found no way to get open. If your weapons aren’t getting away from their defenders you’re going to struggle. And so it was.
The Cardinals have some decent weapons on the defensive side of the ball, but that being said, the Ravens are simply a better team, and there is no reason they should struggle on offense here. Run the ball first, then throw it to make them pay.
Clean Up The Issues On The Line
The Offensive Line has struggled the past couple of weeks in protecting Joe Flacco, to win this game, and to do so convincingly the Line has got to do a better job in playing with focus, and keeping Joe protected. If the line struggles, Joe struggles. He’s not the kind of player who can create plays on his own. He needs help.
Destroy Kevin Kolb
Kevin Kolb has been struggling all year long. This is not the time to allow him to gain his footing and prove his detractors wrong. The Ravens have to blitz the holy bejezzus out of the Cardinals and absolutely destroy their young erratic Quarterback. Beat Kolb early and remove all doubt as to the outcome of this game.
The Ravens are coming off an emotionally disturbing loss to the Jaguars. They have got to retain focus and obliterate the Cardinals. If they dwell to long on what happened in Florida, Arizona can and will make them pay for it. Winning the game starts with being prepared mentally.
Ravens Gab Predictions
Jonathon Scruggs (3-2)
Ravens will not lose. The end.
Ravens 31 — Cardinals 16
Matt Jergensen (2-3)
Ray Rice is going to get the ball a lot today- as he should. But I’d also expect Joe Flacco to have a solid rebound game. The Ravens are a different team when playing at home. No upset here.
Ravens 24 – Cardinals 10
Gene Winner (3-2)
All eyes on the offense and Ray Rice should get his carries this game. The key for the defense is to contain WR Larry Fitzgerald. Ravens fans should feel confident, the team will rebound this weekend.
Ravens 24 – Cardinals 13
Ben Zinman (2-1)
Ravens 00 – Cardinals 00
