There’s no game this week, sadly. So no game preview. Instead, we’ll preview the upcoming schedule for the remaining of the year.
WEEK 8: Miami
Miami sucks. Let’s just put that out there. Chad Henne, who’s decent, is hurt. Reggie Bush has been a disappointment. The D is not good. Are they sucking for Luck? Who knows. But this is not a good football team. The Giants can’t let that change their game plan. No Seattle stuff here. Just stick to the gameplan, and let the talent win out.
WEEK 9: At New England
This is the beginning of the tough schedule. Playing at New England is always tough. Brady is playing great. The two tight end monster of Gronkowski and Hernandez is going to be tough to stop. Oh yeah, there’s Wes Welker too. I’ve heard he’s good too. Unless the Giants can get incredible pressure, it could be a long day. Hopefully Tuck will be back by then.
WEEK 10: At San Francisco
Who would have thought the 49ers would be good? Not many. The defense is tremendous. Frank Gore is playing really well. And Alex Smith is seemingly getting it. Are they a fluke? I don’t know. They certainly have a talented defense, but I still worry about Smith, just because he hasn’t done it. Travelling to the west coast is always tough for the Giants. This is a tough one, because we just don’t know if the 49ers are for real. Travelling out west makes this a very difficult game. Let’s get in Smiths’ face, early and often.
WEEK 11: Philadelphia
The Giants beat Philly once, in Philly. Who’s to say they couldn’t do it twice? Playing the Eagles is always dangerous, no matter who’s on the team. Sticking to the same format that worked the first time (pressure, physical play) will do the Giants wonders. Beating the Eagles twice would be great, wouldn’t it?
WEEK 12: At New Orleans
The Giants have a rough schedule, don’t they? Going to New Orleans, on a Monday Night no less, is incredibly difficult. Brees is just so hard to defend against, because he’s able to manipulate the defense so well. He just plays at a different pace. Pressures doesn’t faze him. Anytime you play the Saints, it has to be a shootout in order to beat them. Giants have shown they can put up points, and in order to win, they’ll have to do just that. This is a game where Eli needs to come up big.
WEEK 13: Green Bay
Green Bay is, hands down, the best team in football. Aaron Rodgers is just otherworldly. Like Brees, he manipulates defenses, and does so at a very fast pace. Combine it with a great defense, and I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Green Bay is the Super Bowl favorite. This is going to be a tough game to win. In fact, any team will have a tough time beating the Pack. Unless the Giants can play a ball ontrol game, and simply keep Rodgers off the field, then it could be a long one.
WEEK 14: At Dallas
Giants seem to play well at Dallas. It’s when they’re playing in New York that they struggle. Dallas seems to live and die by Tony Romo. If he plays well, they play well. If he doesn’t, they don’t. Romo seems to go from good to bad multiple times a game, so it’s really hard to get a read on this team. They’re dangerous. But, will Felix Jones be back? Which Romo will show up? The Giants, like I said, play well in Dallas. I like this as a Giants win.
WEEK 15: Redskins
Redskins got the first battle, but these two teams are going in different directions. Redskins are not the same team. Grossman’s been benched. The Giants are not the same team. Eli’s been playing so well. They’re starting to click on D. I don’t think the Giants should have a problem in this game.
WEEK 16: At Jets
Not really an away game, but it will be interesting. Anytime the Jets and Giants get together it’s an event. The Jets are struggling a bit right now. Sanchez is not playing well. The run game isn’t going. The D is always good. I think the Giants are the better team, and if they can frazzle Sanchez, it will be a fun night. But, lots of things can happen in the Battle of New York.
WEEK 17: Dallas
The last game of the year. Hard to know what will happen in this matchup when the first one hasn’t happened. But, like I said, the Giants seem to struggle with Dallas at home. Have no idea why. Again, if Dallas has a good performance from Romo, they’re one of the most dangerous teams in the league. If not, well, they’re not too good. It’s a roller coaster, but that’s how Dallas always is.
The Giants 2nd half of the schedule is rough. Being 4-2 gives them a bit of a cushion. Have to beat Miami. That’s the easy game. Have to beat Washington. They should get some wins here, but this will definitely define them as a team.
