Robert Gallery Slated to Start, Tarvaris Jackon Out

It’s a Christmas Miracle!

That’s what my best friend texted me after the Seahawks defeated the Giants 36-25 in an improbable not just road, but east coast 10 AM road victory. In fact one of my other friends from Seattle who goes to WSU here and gives me crap for wanting Andrew Luck didn’t even bother to arise for the early bird special given standard Seattle protocol of losing virtually all east coast 10 AM road games in recent memory.

The point is that 2 weeks ago a miracle happened, (not quite like the Seahawks beasting the Saints in a never-can-be-repeated upset), and the point of the opening line was that it was Charlie Whitehurst who ultimately stepped in and lead the team to victory with a solid productive outing.

Fans have gotten what they wanted, Charlie Whitehurst is slated to start and has gone from “worst trade ever” status to “thank Jesus” status in the span of a single season thanks to the ousting of Matt Hasselbeck (why?..), and the arrival of the universally despised Tarvaris Jackson. Admittedly, Jackson has actually surpassed my low expectations of him, and on the surface his solid stat line can fool the weak minded (“these are not the droids your looking for”) very easily.

This is coming from me partly too, if you have at all followed my writing since the Whitehurst trade you would know that I too called it arguably the most idiotic trade in Seahawks history in terms of what they gave up and what they gave it up for. I guess all it takes is the arrival of Tarvaris Jackson to revise even the stoutest of opinions.

In my opinion Charlie actually gives this team hope of success for this season if for any reason the 49ers begin to stumble at all, and if he gets a victory at Cleveland the Seahawks should have a a quarterback controversy on their hands.

Protecting him (finally), after a typical injury stint is guard Robert Gallery, part of what’s considered the best free agency haul of this past off-season (remember, this team is built for the future, ignore this year).

It was apparent the groin injury that knocked him out of the starting lineup was bothering him during the games he has played in so far this off-season. The Seahawks offensive line has actually noticeably improved, and maybe injecting Gallery into that might actually transform this unit into a, i’ll use the word cautiously, decent offensive line?
