When Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy sprained his left ankle two weeks ago in San Francisco, he was originally slated to be sidelined at least three-to-four weeks.
And while he’s still nursing his ankle injury, the Oklahoma alum could be close to returning sooner than expected, as he participated in practice on Thursday.
After missing last week’s contest against New Orleans, the former Sooner standout is steadily making progress.
“He’s getting better,” Bucs head coach Raheem Morris said of McCoy. “Having a chance to get him back is exciting for us.”
McCoy leads the club with 11 quarterback pressures and four tackles for loss.
Blount update: As for running back LeGarrette Blount, he sat (knee) out practice again on Thursday, and is more than likely out for Sunday’s showdown in London against Chicago.
