The Cowboys will re-sign veteran offensive guard Montrae Holland, Todd Archer, via Calvin Watkins, of ESPN Dallas reports.
On Sunday, Dallas lost starting left guard Bill Nagy for the season to a broken right ankle. Nagy will be placed on injured reserve to clear a roster spot for Holland.
A 2003 fourth-round choice out of Florida State selected by the Saints, the 31-year-old Holland was with the Cowboys the last three seasons, starting four of 21 games. The Cowboys released Holland on September 4 to clear a roster spot for the signing of Derrick Dockery.
Harris gone: The Cowboys have placed rookie wide receiver Dwayne Harris on waivers, Nick Eatman of the team’s official website reports.
A sixth-round pick out of East Carolina, Harris has been active for all five of the Cowboys games this season, returning punts and kicks. Harris has averaged 6.6 yards on 11 punt returns with a long of 14 yards, and has returned three kicks for 74 yards with a long of 32 yards.
The team is expected to get 2011 second-round (North Carolina) linebacker Bruce Carter back at practice this week. On the non-football injury list since the start of the season, a roster spot will need to be cleared for Carter to play on Sunday.
Rucker claimed: The club now has a spot open on their practice squad after the Jaguars signed tight end Martin Rucker.
