Brandon Lloyd Could Go to Patriots, Rams or Back to 49ers

Fox has reported that the Patriots, Rams and 49ers are ahead in the hunt for Brandon Lloyd.

The 49ers lost one of their best receivers in Josh Morgan for the season and they would look to Lloyd for help on their potential Super Bowl run. The “all in” mentality makes sense for a team that hasn’t made the playoffs since 2002 and has a lot of their best players in their prime.

The Rams have had issues waiting for Mark Clayton to get healthy and having seen Amendola get a serious injury. They also deactivated their biggest free agency wideout in Mike Sims-Walker. McDaniels coached Lloyd for most of last year, which was phenomenal.

The interest of the Patriots is puzzling because of their great depth but Belichick has plenty of 2012 and 2013 draft selections to send to Denver and he may just see Lloyd as a cheap rental. There’s also an outside chance that Belichick wants to make sure a talent like Lloyd doesn’t end up on an AFC contender like the Jets.

Adam Schefter reports that Broncos WR Eddie Royal is also available in trade.
