Alex Smith
He’s always been a talented quarterback in search of the right system and play-calling. He’s found it and will have Braylon Edwards next week after their important road clash vs. Detroit.
THE BAD
Josh Freeman
He has started out cold this year. I blame a lot of it on Greg Olson not coming up with a game plan to get 6 to 10-yard easy chunks in the passing game. Utilizing your playmakers with tempo and design allows you to move the ball from 20-to-20 in today’s NFL, barring you don’t have issues with your offensive line. What makes an offense elite is what you do inside the 20. Josh Freeman doesn’t have a rhythm right now.
THE UGLY
Early mistakes
The 49ers outperformed them in every way. They looked every bit the better team on Sunday. However, like the Cardinals-Vikings game, you can’t afford to let a good team get a big, early lead.
The pass rush
0 sacks again.
Mental mistakes
More penalty yards – 96 – than yards rushing – 86 -, even Coach Rah flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Bucs have a tough game at home against the Saints. The secondary and Mike Williams should play better but all eyes will be on Earnest Graham AND I expect him to deliver.
