Munchak Says Johnson Needs to Step Up and Play Better

Chris Johnson isn’t running the ball any differently than he did in his first three NFL seasons, the way Coach Mike Munchak sees it. “That’s his style,” he said Monday. “He is not going to change the way he does things.” One thing has been a lot different, however. The Titans have been unable to run the ball. Johnson has 250 yards after five games.

He managed only 51 yards on 14 carries in the 38-17 loss to the Steelers and the Titans are last in the NFL in rushing yards per game. “He needs to play better, we need to block better,” Munchak said. “We all know that. When he is having 50 yards per game, that is not going to cut it. He is a great player and he needs to play great, and right now that’s not happening.”
