Report: Bernard Berrian deactivated against Arizona due to “disciplinary decision”

Jeremy Fowler and Brian Murphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Vikings deactivated wide receiver Bernard Berrian for Sunday’s 34-10 victory over Arizona after he missed two meetings – one for the team, one for the offense – at the team hotel Saturday, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Apparently his teammates had no idea it was happening.

“I didn’t know about it until I got here,” said quarterback Donovan McNabb after Sunday’s 34-10 win over Arizona.

Sunday marked Berrian’s first stint on the inactive list for reasons other than injury.

Coach Leslie Frazier said he did not bench Berrian as punishment for questioning his role in the offense on Twitter and debating it with a state lawmaker.

“It was a disciplinary decision by me,” Frazier said. “That was the reason he wasn’t active.”

“That’s not to say it will continuously be this way,” the Vikings coach said. “There were some things that we needed to get done that had to be done.”
