Cardinals safety Kerry Rhodes will miss “a number of weeks” with a broken left foot that could require surgery, head coach Ken Whisenhunt said on Monday according to Darren Urban of the team’s official website.
According to Urban, Whisenhunt said that even with surgery, the injury is not considered to be season-ending.
While Rhodes is out, Rashad Johnson will start at free safety. A 2009 third-round pick out of Alabama, Johnson has started two of his 31 games in the NFL, recording 71 tackles and an interception.
As for the Louisville product, Rhodes has registered 24 stops (19 solo), two sacks and a pass defensed this season.
The Cardinals are off this week before hosting the Steelers on October 23.
