Giants Seahawks Game Preview

The Giants are back at home, only their 2nd home game of the year, as the Seahawks come into town. Can the Giants keep their hot play alive?

Out: G Robert Gallery (groin), WR Mike Williams (concussion)

Doubtful: LB Malcolm Smith (hamstring), CB Byron Maxwell (ankle)

Questionable: WR Kris Durham (hamstring), S Kam Chancellor (thigh), CB Marcus Trufant (back)

Probable: DL Anthony Hargrove (hamstring), TE Zach Miller (knee, ankle)

NY Giants

Out: CB Prince Amukamara (foot), C David Baas (neck),

Doubtful: RB Brandon Jacobs (knee), DE Justin Tuck (groin, neck)

Probable: DT Rocky Bernard (ribs), LB Michael Boley (knee), DE Osi Umenyiora (knee)

So, quietly, Eli Manning is having a terrific season. The media talks more about his injured brother than little bro, but it’s Eli who’s been playing great football. And he’ll have to again this week. The Seahawks have a good run defense, plus Brandon Jacobs is unlikely to play. If Eli can continue his hot play, the offense should move fine. I think against the Seahawks, creating a nice tempo is important, nothing fancy downfield, short, accurate passes, move the chains, run the ball when you can. Let’s keep it simple this week. I am worried about not having David Baas. Kevin Boothe isn’t really the best substitute. We’ll see how the line works.

Tuck’s out again, but with JPP and Osi, that should be fine. The Seahawks don’t have a great offense. Bad line, bad QB, pedestrian running game. Sidney Rice is a threat, maybe the only threat. Stop him, they should win the game. The Giants should be able to get pressure on Tarvaris Jackson. He doesn’t really respond well to pressure. Marshawn Lynch should be a really good back, but the line just isn’t that good. The Sehawks are not much of a threat offensively.

How the Seahawks made the playoffs last year is beyond me. This not a good team. In reality, they may be in a “Suck For Luck” campaign, referring to star Stanford QB Andrew Luck. Seattle has a decent defense, but their offense is just brutal. Tarvaris Jackson is not a good QB. Not that they have many better options, but fighting to keep Matt Hasselback might have been smarter. I think Pete Carroll is a decent coach, but they just don’t have an offense. Mike Williams has been hurt. Marshawn Lynch hasn’t been good (just ask my fantasy team). To win, they’ll need to create turnovers, and score off those turnovers.

The Giants are the better team. Much better team. Yes, trap games like this usually mess up the Giants. But again, there’s just too much talent on the New York side. I think if they can hold onto the ball, not make any stupid mistakes, they should be fine. FINAL SCORE: Giants 24, Seahawks 10

No coverage today. I apologize. I have a good reason. I’m going to be at the game! Going to be great. It’s my girlfriend’s first Giants game (she’s technically a Jets fan, but don’t worry guys, I’ll convert her). It’s a big occasion in our relationship. All kidding aside, the weather is going to be terrific (80 in October? I’ll take it!), I’ll be with the girlfriend. All will be well. If you’re at the game, tweet me! If not, we’ll provide score updates (depending, of course, on how good the 3G service is at the Stadium. I have my doubts).
