Safety William Moore Hit with $15,000 Fine for Hit in Seattle Win

Falcons safety William Moore was fined $15,000 by the National Football League for unnecessarily striking an opponent in the head area.

On a 3rd-and-8 play with 9:49 to play in the fourth quarter, Moore made helmet-to-helmet contact with Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin, who held onto the ball for a 16-yard gain. Baldwin was shaken up on the play, but did return later in the quarter.

Earlier in the game, Moore grabbed the facemask of Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch. That play did draw a penalty, with second-year linebacker Sean Weatherspoon identified as the culprit. No fine was issued for that play.

As the 52nd overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, Moore is earning a $525,000 base salary. The $15,000 fine is roughly half of Moore’s $30,882 weekly game checks.
