Johnson Named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Outside Linebacker Jarret Johnson was named this week’s AFC Defensive player of the week for his strong performance in the Ravens 34-17 victory Sunday night over the New York Jets.

Johnson returned a fumble for a touchdown, had two quarterback hits and three tackles.

The Ravens Iron man has played in 117 consecutive games but has never won this award before. On a defense that includes such stars as Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Terrell Suggs he doesn’t get as much national publicity. However Baltimore fans┬áhave known for a long time┬áthat Double J is a vital contributor to the defensive machine.

This is the third time in four weeks that a Raven has won this award.
