The Giants have signed free agent cornerback Justin Tryon, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
Tryon adds depth to a Giants secondary that lost Terrell Thomas to a torn ACL and has been without 2011 first-round pick Prince Amukamara, who broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot during training camp.
The Giants have not announced the Tryon signing, which will require an accompanying transaction.
A 2008 fourth-round pick out of Arizona State by the Redskins, Tryon started two of 29 games for the Redskins over the 2008 and 2009 seasons, totaling 31 tackles, a quarterback sack and an interception. Traded to the Colts before the 2010 season, Tryon started six of 12 games, making 44 tackles and had seven passes defensed. Tryon had seven tackles over three games this season before he was abruptly waived last week.
