Big Plays Beating Browns In First Half

Big plays. Big – BIG – plays are absolutely killing the Cleveland Browns.

Coming into today’s game against the Titans, the Browns had the 3rd best passing defense in the NFL. Expect that ranking to be much – much – lower after today.

Matt Hasselbeck is doing his best Joe Montana impersination, and has shredded the Cleveland secondary. So far, Hasselbeck is 8/12 for 194 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Titans. It’s clear the team’s plan was to shut down Chris Johnson, and so far they’ve done just that. However, they may want to think a little more about the passing game.

The Browns offense has moved the ball against the top ranked Titans defense, but only have two long field goals from Phil Dawson to show for it. Promising drives have been caped off by misques and questionable play-calling.

Expect the big news after today’s game to once again be about Peyton Hillis.

Last week, it was Hillis’ absence from the game due to strep throat that made headlines. Today, it’s his absence from the game due to Montario Hardesty that’s sure to grab the media, and Browns fans’, attention. In the first half, Hardesty has seen an increase in carries and has a 27 yard reception to add to his stats.

Questions have already raised about Hillis’ absence from last week’s game against Miami being because of contract issues. Today is certainly sure to fuel those rumors.
