Confidence is Still High in Jacksonville

Confidence is still high in the Jacksonville Jaguars locker room according to defensive tackle Leger Douzable. I was able to talk with Leger tonight, and get his thoughts on a variety of subjects, including tomorrows game versus the high powered New Orleans Saints.

I asked him what the game plan to stop the high octane offense of the Saints was, to which he replied “ we’re going to go out and stop the run and make them one dimensional and just go from there because we have a good run defense.”

I also asked him if playing against Peyton Manning will help the team when facing Drew Brees who is quite similar, “You can’t get caught up in the calls he makes, because he’s just trying to play head games. Just do your job and get after him and you’ll be fine.” Leger told me, which is very similar to the answer he gave me before the season started when I asked him about playing against Manning.

“We’re a good defense and we have done a good job in stopping the run for sure.” Leger told me when I asked how he felt the defense had performed thus far in the season. He also said “We believe we can play with anyone, no matter who it is. We have a good run defense, and we believe that really helps going forward. We need to finish drives and get into the end zone.” Leger said when I asked him how he felt about the team going forward this season.

I had the chance to ask him how the team felt about Blaine Gabbert’s first career NFL start “He did really well, he is a good game manager. We like what we see so far from him.”

Look for Leger and the rest of the Jaguars defense and rookie Blaine Gabbert to be ready to go tomorrow against the Saints. Don’t be surprised either if the Jags manage to pull an upset in this game, especially with the amount of confidence the team seems to have.
