2011 unlike 2010: It will be different this time

During a half time speech of the season opener, and the 1st  Ravens-Steelers matchup with the Ravens ahead by three touchdowns, Ray Lewis told the team that this was not like 2010.  He was referring to the last time the two teams played each other in the 2010 playoffs when the ravens were also ahead by three touchdowns.

He’s right. This is 2011.

The fellows at the castle had ten months to put together a response to the catastrophe that had befallen them in the second half of that 2010 playoff debacle. As a teaching tool all lessons to be learned, digested, and chewed on began to breakdown during the second half of the game, not unlike others during the 2010 campaign, when the team often began to lose its focus.  Offensive inconsistencies and defensive breakdowns were carefully preserved……..theoretically, sort of.

I guess if you give anyone long enough to prepare almost anything can be accomplished. Time to prepare and think about that devastating loss was the opportunity Flacco needed to erase the demons that were Harrison-Farrior-Palomalu led Pittsburgh defense. Even though age is on the rise and speed is beginning its descent, this group will continue to remain quite formidable. Except, they forgot to show up for the season opener at M&T stadium. Once this day had come and the story was told the words of Ray Lewis were now truthful.

This was not to be repeat of 2010.
