The Giants, banged up and all, are about to get a little, shall I say, healthy? Yes. It appears to be the case. Slowly, though.
WR Mario Manningham, who missed last week’s I-90 showdown against the Eagles, was cleared to practice today and practiced in full. The team had said he would be limited, but according to Manningham himself, he was a full go.
DE Osi Umenyiora, who hasn’t practiced since August, was limited today. If the swelling isn’t to bad tomorrow, they hope to have him go again. His status is up in the air for Sunday. If the swelling in his knee isn’t to bad, they’ll fly him out to Arizona and he’ll give it a go. The team might be best suited holding him back another week and having him play in the teams long homestead, which includes three straight home games with a bye week mixed in there. The Giants are preaching patience with Umenyiora.
DE Justin Tuck did not practice today, but according to Giants head coach Tom Coughlin, he has been making “good progress.” Early indication is Tuck will play. With a new groin injury and a nagging neck injury, Tuck might have to play with pain the rest of the season.
CB Prince Amukamara still has “a ways to go,” according to Tom Coughlin, but he is making good progress. Amukamara was backpedaling and running forwards today, something he hadn’t been able to do last week. Amukamara is “disappointed” he couldn’t play in this week’s game in Arizona against the Cardinals, because Glendale is hometown. He also was looking forward to making a statement, because the Cardinals passed on him for CB Patrick Peterson. Privately Amukamara had hoped he could play in this week’s game (which would mark the 8th week of his recovery. He was given an 8-10 week recovery period), but he isn’t ready yet. It looks like he might be ready in a few weeks, though.
WR Ramses Barden was seen catching passes from QB Sage Rosenfels today at practice on the adjacent field. Barden, who is on the PUP list, can’t return to action until Week 7 the earliest. The little passing game was shutdown, though, because Rosenfels is an IR. The Giants won’t be fined from the league, because the shut it down once they realized what was transpiring.
