Hasselbeck Leads Titans Past Broncos, 17-14

Matt Hasselbeck looked great again as he helped the Tennessee Titans move to 2-1 and defeat the Denver Broncos behind passes to Nate Washington and Daniel Graham.

His usual suspect, Kenny Britt, sustained what appeared to be an ACL injury as he made a cut upfield. Britt’s knee seemed to buckle underneath him as he fumbled the football.

The Titans defense forced Kyle Orton into two interceptions as linebacker Will Witherspoon caught one and had the Titans lone sack. Despite forcing only one sack, the Titan defense consistently put pressure on Orton and the Bronco offense.

Chris Johnson struggled to get going once again as he amounted only 21 yards on 13 carries. It seems like the Titans are going to ride the Hasselbeck wave for as long as they can while keeping Johnson’s legs fresh.

Johnson has only carried the ball 46 times for 98 yards this season. If the Titans are able to keep Johnson fresh late in the season, he may be able to provide the late push that could help the Titans keep up with the 3-0 Houston Texans.

The touchdown pass to Daniel Graham early in the fourth quarter was the only score of the final quarter of football. Dave Ball and the Titans defense were able to contain Orton and the Broncos offense to keep pace one game behind the Texans. The Titans will face the Cleveland Browns at Paul Brown Stadium as both teams will be looking to move to 3-1.
