Jets center Nick Mangold’s 82-game streak of consecutive starts will come to an end this Sunday, as the team has ruled him out of their Week 3 road game against Oakland.
Sunday will be the first game Mangold will miss since being selected in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. Mangold suffered a high ankle sprain during the Jets’ 32-3 win over the Jaguars in Week 2.
“It’s going to be tough, but you can’t argue with the body,” Mangold said.
Undrafted rookie Colin Baxter replaced Mangold last week and will get the start against the Raiders. Baxter went to training camp with the San Diego Chargers, and was claimed off waivers earlier this month.
In addition to Mangold, the Jets ruled wide receiver Logan Payne (wrist) and offensive lineman Robert Turner (broken leg) out for Sunday’s gam
