The Cowboys received both good and bad news on the injury front on Thursday.
Josh Ellis of Dallascowboys.com via Twitter reports that cornerback Terence Newman returned to practice Thursday for the first time since pulling his groin on August 3. He should immediately return to his starting left corner role for the Cowboys’ meeting with the 2-0 Redskins on Monday night in Big D.
On the flip side, Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com via Twitter reports that running back Felix Jones watched practice Thursday in a baseball cap and no pads after playing through a separated shoulder last week. The injury is not expected to keep him out of Monday’s showdown but his role could be significantly curtailed. It is unknown if the club is willing to risk Jones re-injuring his shoulder if he plays.
Dez Bryant update: The former Oklahoma State star sat out practice once again on Thursday. Week two’s hero Jesse Holley and Kevin Olgetree are getting ready, along with the recently-signed Laurent Robinson.
