Sources: Eagles replace Matthews with Chaney at MLB

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports Jamar Chaney is now the Eagles’ starting middle linebacker, replacing rookie Casey Matthews, who will move to weak-side linebacker, club sources indicated.

The transition of the linebackers continued with Moise Fokou moving from weak-side linebacker to strong-side linebacker.

Surely, defensive coordinator Juan Castillo and the Eagles front seven have their work cut out for them this Sunday in the team’s home opener against the Giants, as they face the dynamic two-headed monster of Bradshaw and Jacobs.

Chaney, a ’10 seventh-round pick from Mississippi State, is a six-foot, 242-pound ‘backer who has delivered 15 tackles (11 solo) on the season.  Last week in the Georgia Dome, the former Bulldog registered nine tackles, including five solo stops.
