For the second straight week, the Kansas City Chiefs were embarrassed.
The Detroit Lions blew out the Chiefs 48-3. Matt Stafford tossed 4 touchdowns, a pair going to Calvin Johnson.
To make matters worse, Jamaal Charles was lost for the season with a torn ACL. Charles was injured in the first quarter on a run where he ran into the Lions mascot out of bounds. The injury means the Chiefs have lost three of their best players from last season. There isn’t a team with worse luck right now. There also isn’t a team playing any worse.
Matt Cassel tosses three interceptions in the loss and had a fumble. On a positive note, Dwayne Bowe caught 5 passes for 101 yards.
Kansas City was down 7-3 early in the first quarter when Jon McGraw picked off a Stafford pass. McGraw again showed that he shouldn’t have an NFL job when he fumbled the return. Detroit recovered and went on a scoring drive that resulted in a touchdown.
The loss drops the Chiefs to 0-2 on the season. The organization appears to be in shambles after the Charles injury. The team was outplayed in every facet of the game. Haley looked like he had no gameplan. Quite simply, the Chiefs are a bad football team, and without Charles, they will only be worse.
