Jets Pro Bowl center Nick Mangold will undergo an MRI on Monday for what’s being described as a right ankle injury, head coach Rex Ryan said after today’s 32-3 win over the Jaguars.
X-rays were negative and it’s believed that Mangold has a high ankle sprain.
“We got it iced down pretty well, so it’s pretty numb,” Mangold said. “Thought we could give it a go, but it didn’t want to agree with me on that. So now we’re just playing it safe.”
A three-time Pro Bowler, Mangold started the 82nd consecutive game of his career on Sunday. Mangold was replaced at center by rookie Colin Baxter, who went to training camp with the San Diego Chargers and was claimed off waivers earlier this month.
