One of the two biggest free-agent acquisitions for the Seahawks will start against the Steelers on Sunday. And it’s the “biggest” of the two.
During a Friday morning appearance on KIRO radio, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll announced that Robert Gallery will start at left guard on Sunday against the Steelers at Heinz Field, Liz Mathews of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
Gallery missed the season-opener with a knee injury, and was replaced in the starting line up by 2011 first-round pick James Carpenter, who will move back to the right tackle spot.
Coach Pete Carroll also said after practice Friday that Rice won’t make it back in time for Sunday but is optimistic he’ll be ready for the team’s home opener next week against the Cardinals.
Rice saw action during only two preseason games while monitoring a sore shoulder that has transitioned over into the first two weeks of the regular season.
